TED CHALMERS
Ted shot his first roll of movie film at the early age of ten and has been involved with filmmaking ever since. He is a native Californian, raised in Newport Beach and currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
Bio
After graduating from the USC School of Cinema-Television, Ted began his career in 1990 representing film libraries that included Avco-Embassy, De Laurentiis and Fellini which led to a post at Trans-Atlantic Entertainment, formerly New World International. After its sale to Lakeshore, he went on to lead the sales at Creative Light Entertainment and Moving Pictures Film and Television. He was also Senior VP of Media Brokerage for ICAP Plc.
During his career, Ted has been involved with the sales and distribution of such well-known films as THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, HELLRAISER, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, ONE FALSE MOVE, RE-ANIMATOR, and EVIL DEAD 2.
He was also a producer on the following films:

FAUST: LOVE OF THE DAMNED, a project that he developed from its origins as an underground cult comic book. The film was released by Lionsgate.

Sci Fi Pictures’ MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN, starring Bruce Campbell

ALIEN APOCALYPSE which debuted in March 2005 and was the highest rated Sci Fi Channel premier in the channels history.
Recent Career
Ted currently works as a film production, sales and distribution executive with headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona and affiliate locations in Beverly Hills, California, New York City, New York, Frankfurt, Germany and Selangor, Malaysia.
Ted specializes in the sub-distribution and licensing of film and TV product to buyers, distributors, broadcasters and industry participants.
Ted formed TomCat Films in 2007 as a film development company that sub-contracted Hollywood and Toronto based production companies to make movies on behalf of industry participants, i.e. individuals who wish to participate on film projects as a producer or actor. During that time it produced such films as METAL MAN, DON’T LOOK IN THE CELLAR, THE BLACK KNIGHT RETURNS, and STAR QUEST: THE ODYSSEY.
In 2011 the company became a worldwide sales agent and distributor of third party acquired films in addition to its in-house developed projects.
Today, Ted Films attends all the major film markets including the American Film Market, European Film Market in Berlin, Hong Kong Filmart and the Cannes Film Festival.
The company distributes over 100 feature films with distribution deals in place worldwide. Many of TomCat’s films can be seen on Netflix, InDemand, Family Video, Best Buy, Amazon and other establishments in the U.S./Canada and around the world.
Ted has become known for his genre and mockbuster titles including ALIENS VS AVATARS, THNDERSTORM: THE RETURN OF THOR, RISE OF THE BLACK BAT and AGENT BEETLE. He has also been called “KING OF THE MOCKBUSTERS” by Vice Magazine. He has also produced a series of successful sexy femme fatales features in collaboration with Penthouse Pet of the Year Runner Up, Veronica Ricci, including BLOODY MARY 3D, SNAKE CLUB, LIZZIE BORDEN’S REVENGE and NAZI DAWN.
Ted is also a regular speaker at film schools and festivals, inlcuding San Diego Comic-Con, Phoenix Comic-con, Fantsosporto, CineQuest, Festival du Cannes and CenFlo FIlm Festival.
